Best Tour Company On The Island

«All, the tour companies are passionate about their beautiful island but Madeira Sightseeing stand heads above the others. Most do the tours in large coaches or cramped 12 seat mini buses. This company has new 16 seat buses with an electronic sliding roof that the driver can open/close to suit the weather. Over the past 3 years We have done most of the recommended trips to the West and Nuns Valley so decide to try the half day trip to the east and now wish we had done it sooner. The trip takes you to view points, through magnificent scenery, a Enesco World Heritage Forest, a trout farm and the area where most of the fruit/crops are grown. We had never heard of or seen apple bananas before (apple flavour bananas). The bus has audio information in several languages (headphones provided) but is supplemented by the driver/guide who was also funny. Marcio claims he will be president in 10 years so already have an invite to have afternoon tea with him!! - Marcio for President.!!! There are some brilliant tours in Maderia but this was definitely the best company to do it with and the East is not so often promoted so its a hidden gem. The information given is factual and presented in a fun way. Well done everyone and look forward to trying future new trips with you. Use this company they are the best.»

Discovering parts of the island we did not know existed

«We took the "Green experience" tour, running mornings and taking you to the centre and N-W of the island from Funchal.
Places we visited include Pico do Arieiro (1,818m), which is the 2nd highest point on the island, Poiso (Poncha), Ribeiro frio (trout farm), Santana, Pico do Facho among others.
Our driver, Mario, was friendly and knowledgeable, kept us well entertained.
He pointed out the numerous fruits that grow on the island: papaya, mango, avocado, custard apple, banana, banana passion fruit, citrus fruits, kumquats, bilberries, kiwi... No wonder the market in Funchal is so well stocked with local produce!
The audio guide is good (though the earphones do not stay in place), and the seats are a little narrow.»

Nice tour

«Easy way to see more of the island than Funchal. Bus starts right outside Riu Palace Madeira. Friendly and service minded driver that changed the route due to bad weather.»

Fantastic tour and driver

«We took the green morning tour with Marcio of Madeira Sightseeing. We saw the coach outside the Dom Pedro in Garajau, spoke to him about the tours and decided to take the trip the next day. When you're staying outside of Funchal it's great not to have to travel into Funchal before you make a start.
We had a fantastic time. Marcio is a great guide and gave us lots of information about the Island generally and the various places we visited on the tour in addition to the recorded commentary. The bus is very comfortable and having the top open on the coach made it an extremely memorable experience. Wrap up warm though as it gets a bit chilly when you're above the clouds. Having a tour on a smaller coach makes it a much more personal experience than you get on the big buses in town and had we met Marcio earlier we would have taken the blue tour too, but we had already done that with one of the others companies. I can't recommend Madeira Sightseeing highly enough.»

Very nice Madeira Sightseeing green bus tour

«We did the Green Tour from Madeira Sightseeing (the green/blue busses that can open their roofs) as a family with a small kid on a morning in octobre and really appreciated the comfortable bus, the amazing views and excellent information from the bus driver. Since the audio (they normally give information through headphones in different languages) was being revised, driver Marcio had to be our live tour guide for the day, and he did it with flair and a lot of humour, in good English too. We had a great time and really recommend this trip for all ages! They picked us up right in front of Dom Pedro Garajau hotel, which was very convenient for us.
Very nice, enough stops for a short brake or (photo)moment. You should do it!»

Brilliant tour with fantastic guide 10/10

«State-of-the-art open-top minibus rolled up at the bus stop while we were waiting for the public bus, so we went over to enquire; the driver, Marcio, was so friendly and the mountain tour looked great. It was our last day and he had no other takers, so he changed his plans and took us on ‘the green experience’ through the mountains for 4 hours. He was a wonderful host and tour guide, fantastic with the kids, we stopped 3 times for 20-30 minutes, and we even managed a swim in the sandy bay at Porto da Cruz. Can’t recommend this highly enough. Great value, fun, interesting and beautiful. Thank you!»

Highly recommend! Super nice driver/guide!

«Madeira Sightseeing deserves a great review! We only found out about this company by accident, as there was an advert in the bus stop in front of our hotel. We're not really the "tourist bus" type of tourists, so we hesitated to do this. Every day in the morning and in the afternoon, the bus starts in Caniço and makes a stop at our hotel (Dom Pedro Garajau), before starting the tour, so it was convenient. We decided to go on "the green experience" and were pleasantly surprised! My mother (61) and I (26) were the only 2 people on the tour that day. Unfortunately 'Madeira Sightseeing' tours aren't as well known as they deserve to be yet. They started out in May 2017 (I believe that's what the driver told us). The driver was absolutely lovely and gave us a private tour in the brand new minibus, that had a removable rooftop - which was convenient because we had all kinds of weather that day. The audioguide system was broken at the moment, but that turned out to be a great advantage! The driver was our guide and gave us very interesting information about all the sights and since we were the only ones there, he could adapt the tour a little bit according to our interests and what he thought was worth mentioning. For example, he told us all about the different kinds of fruits and vegetables growing in the beautiful Madeiran valleys, which we loved.
The tour covered a lot of the eastside of the island (Pico do Arrieiro, which isn't accessible by public transport, Ribeiro Frio, Porto da Cruz,...).
We didn't do "the blue experience" because we had already seen most of the sights included in it, but otherwise we would definetely have done it. We saw the bus a couple of times in front of our hotel, without any people getting on. It's ashame cause it was great and totally worth the money!»
